Despite the lovely addition of the packmule to the single-player game, multiplayer is where it's at, in my opinion. Going online and smiting evil with a few friends is a blast. I found that when I could concentrate on my character rather than worrying about eight, searching for better items became more enjoyable. Using those buff spells to get that last extra 'oomph' out of your party is more worthwhile, as well.
