DAoC Extensive Review

A very positive lengthy review was posted in the forum/site called the Markee Dragon. Now, I haven't extensively checked out the site, but the review is one, if you haven't decided or are considering buying Dark Age of Camelot, one that you'll probably want to read. It's long, detailed, offers up many opinions and covers more bases than the average review, such as:

Creativity (or Innovation):

Some of the things that aren't very innovative about Camelot [are] the basic leveling system and the ways characters gain experience. DAoC is much the same as Everquest when it comes to gaining experience in the form of hunting and killing monsters and completing quests. The monsters difficulty are based on a color coded level scheme much like EQ so you can see what monsters will be easier to hunt and what one will be more difficult than others. The quests given to characters to complete usually involve finding and talking to various NPC's in far away areas, killing certain quest monsters and finding and retrieving items for certain quest giving NPC's. The quest system in DAoC, while not too much unlike Everquest's basic style of questing, is very nicely done however and the artificial intelligence of the NPC's involved is often quite good. For example I recently completed a quest where I had to give an emerald I procured from a Dew Sheerie to an NPC Smith in the town of Caille. Upon showing the emerald to the Smith, he beckoned to me to follow him and walked outside his home. He then told me to give the emerald to him so he could lure a couple monsters to the town for me to fight for him. I gave him the emerald and the monsters came running to the town while he ran away and hid from them, pretty cool AI I think. The quests can be quite lengthy as well with many different twists and turns and when completed offer good chunks of experience and significant items to help your character.
