Top 50 Games of All Time

The gaming website giant, GameSpy, has started a new feature simply called "The Top 50 Games of All Time". This is going to be a weeklong feature, so today just covers #40-#50. Included in these final ten are the RPGs Ultima Online, Planescape: Torment, Ultima III and Ultima V. Here's a bit of what they had to say about Torment:

Based on the Baldur's Gate Infinity Engine, Torment looked great, but its real contribution was that it put the "RP" firmly back in "RPG". The game's rich story unfolded over time like a deep mystery novel, challenging you to try to discover your character's forgotten past and forging new friendships along the way. Torment also succeeded as an RPG by emphasizing attributes that are normally downplayed, like intelligence, charisma and dexterity. Depending on your statistics, different options were open to you in conversations and activities that would allow you to overcome obstacles without swinging a sword. Thanks to its unique look, complex and meaningful story, and flexibility in gameplay, Planescape: Torment was as much a work of art as anything you'll find in a museum or library.
