TORN Followup

Scott Warner, the head man behind TORN, has addressed the rumor by posting a couple of messages, found here and here, on his website (Dirty.org). Here's a bit of what he had to say:

Before I begin, please understand that current and former employees of Black Isle are bound by non-disclosure agreements regarding certain aspects of what we do. In that sense, we are limited to what we can and cannot tell you regarding the project at current time.

    - I cannot comment on the current status of the TORN project other than to say that I am no longer involved with it, nor will be in the future.

    - I am no longer an employee of Interplay Entertainment Corporation or member of Black Isle Studios. I cannot discuss the reason for my departure other than to say that I was "layed off".

    - A number of other Interplay employees were also layed off on Friday. I will allow them and/or the Interplay the right to let you know who they were.

    - Yes, I do have very strong personal feelings about the TORN project, but these are personal. As such, one must understand that these are opinions that do not necessarily represent the sentiment or views of the rest of the TORN team or Interplay. As such, I will not be discussing the project in a public forum.

    - At current time, I will not be involved with future development of Black Isle product, and am persuing options outside of Interplay.

This is a huge disappointment to me, as I had my hopes up for what looked to be a very good 3D RPG from the creators of Planescape: Torment. Best of luck to the talented people who were laid off... I hope they continue making great games, wherever they end up.
