PDS: In which genre do you most enjoy writing?

Neal Hallford: Fantasy and horror are probably the two genres that come most naturally to me, simply because I'm not sitting around worrying about whether or not I'm going to get angry letters from fans saying, "Hey, you calculated the escape velocity for Mars all wrong. What are you, an idiot?!" I sympathize with where that comes from though. I used to sit around and think that it was pretty stupid that the Enterprise was always firing photon torpedoes and phasers at their enemies instead of using the most powerful weapon in their arsenal. They had a transporter beam for heaven's sake! Just beam holes into the enemy's hull and their ships will simply implode! So you see, I'm as much of a nerd as everybody else.
