Age of Wonders 2: A Graphical High

It's not technically an RPG but it's close enough, and by virtue of the game's graphical splendor gains an entrance pass to this newsbit. To put it mildly, the turned-based sequel Age of Wonders 2's 2D graphics are so good and beyond what I've seen since HOMM III over its predecessor, that I believe they are reaching closer than ever now to the pinnacle of 2D graphical technology.

Reminiscent of Capcom's old-style arcade 2D colorful graphics that were so beyond its peer games at the time, a perfect blend of cartoonish and realistic graphics, Age of Wonders 2 trampolines over the competition in my humble opinion into first place in this, one of the most important areas of game development (some say the most important, but of course we know it's the gameplay that counts... graphical eye-candy being the extreme bonus with the ability to profoundly enhance or detract the gameplay... but I digress).

Take a look at the images section at Planet of Wonders or the Official GodGames E3 Site and click on the Age of Wonders 2 icon at the top to see the list of pics, then click on one to enlarge. I'll end with this: Ya paying attention 3DO?
