Heroes of Might & Magic IV

No, it's not RPG news but we're not too strict about that here; most anything that sounds good and could be stretched to be RPG-related can make the news. I mean let's look at the features of the game: it has stats, monsters, fighting, fencing, revenge, chases, escapes, true love... wait a sec.

I'm speaking of 3do's masterful run of turn-based strategy games continuing with Heroes of Might & Magic IV and GameSpot putting up the first screenshot I've seen of it, so take a look. A quote from GameSpot:

The game will support higher resolutions and feature significantly enhanced graphics.

On a this-is-significantly-enhanced? tangent:
This is the truth. When Heroes 3 was months away I was more excited than I have been about any game in a very long time, being just a total Heroes 2 freak. I gobbled up all the press released screenshots, previews and info I could get. And I also remember that the graphics were at least 2 times better in the third game than in H2. After looking at this new screenshot of Heroes IV, I must say I'm disappointed.

The interface has been changed around and looks nice but doesn't seem any more functional than the one in H3... visually. But the graphics is where I have the most concern. I think in all honesty that H3's graphics, judging from just this picture, were equally good, and that's just not good. Nearly all the objects in this picture are straight from H3... so let's hope they do more work creating new and improved looks for everything, not just the interface bar. The most interesting thing on the pic is the castle... it's bigger and I'm sure does more; perhaps laying siege to one is much harder now.
