Sega Still "Supportive"

As a followup to yesterday, there's an article over at Gamespot and at MCV that both cover Sega's response to a Japanese mag's allogation they are discontinuing the Dreamcast. Here's the crux of it from Gamespot:

In response to the report, SOA released an official statement today. "Sega of America stated today that the company globally reaffirms its commitment to Dreamcast," the company said. "In fact, Sega has more than 100 games worldwide coming out for the platform in the next year. It is not Sega's policy to comment on rumors and the company has not made any statement regarding ceasing manufacturing of Dreamcast or development for other videogame platforms."

The fact of the matter is that the magazine which first reported the discontinuation of the production of Dreamcasts in March is probably still correct. Sega's "commitment" is in terms of marketing, in that until all their inventory is depleted they are going to continue to market, resulting in less of a loss.
