Larian Studios’ award-winning RPG Divinity: Original Sin II is apparently looking to become just as ubiquitous as Bethesda’s Skyrim. And with the realms of PC and consoles already conquered, Larian has now set their sights on the iPad.
Revealed during Apple’s Worldwide Developers Conference, this new port is being developed in collaboration with Apple and Elverils. It will feature redesigned controls and a number of new features that are going to be revealed at a later date.
This announcement tweet shows off the game’s menu screen running on an iPad:

And this press release shares some additional information:
DUBLIN — June 26, 2020 — Larian Studios is excited to announce that the team behind the Metacritic Must-Play RPG Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition is working with Apple and Elverils on an Apple iPad port of the game. The project was revealed as a key title driving demos at this year’s WWDC event. In a video for developers about Xcode12 and Metal Apps released during WWDC 2020, Apple showcased the new iPad version of the BAFTA award-winning adventure.
The team is working on adding all-new touchscreen controls and UI, as well as controller support. What’s shown in the WWDC video in terms of features on the menu is not 100% final (the full list of features will be announced at a later date). Though the port is a long way from release, Larian is excited to iterate on it together with some of the top minds in Apple and iPad development. Elverils helmed the already released MacOS edition of Divinity: Original Sin 2.
Originally released to critical acclaim on PC, Divinity: Original Sin 2 received a 93 Metacritic rating and is currently one of only a handful of games to receive a 10/10 from GameSpot. It was released for Nintendo Switch last year, featuring cross-save progression with Steam.
Join the battle for Divinity in a world that reacts to who you are and what you do. Adventure and lead your party as a flesh-eating Elf, an imperial Lizard, a mighty Dwarf, or even an Undead risen from the grave!
At the Guerrilla Collective showcase earlier this month, Larian released “The Four Relics of Rivellon,” the latest and largest Gift Bag DLC yet for Divinity: Original Sin 2. “The Four Relics of Rivellon” adds new quest lines and stories featuring new voice recording and narration, as well as new battles against dastardly enemies like the Undead Dragon boss. Players will be rewarded for undertaking this adventure with four new armor sets imbued with magical properties.
- Choose from six unique origin characters with their own backgrounds and quests, or create your own hero as a Human, Lizard, Elf, Dwarf, or Undead. All choices have consequences.
- Unlimited freedom to explore and experiment. Go anywhere, talk to anyone, and interact with everything! Speak to every animal, and kill any NPC without sacrificing your progress. Even ghosts might be hiding a secret or two…
- The next generation of turn-based combat! Blast your opponents with elemental combos. Use height to your advantage. Master over 200 skills in 12 skill schools. But beware — the game’s AI 2.0 is our most devious invention to date...
- Up to four-player online cooperative gameplay spanning over 100 hours of award-winning narrative.
Divinity: Original Sin 2 - Definitive Edition is available on PC, Mac, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation®4 and Xbox One. The release date for Divinity: Original Sin 2 – Definitive Edition on iPad will be announced at a later time.
