Back during Obsidian Entertainment’s crowdfunding campaign for Pillars of Eternity II: Deadfire, some of the game’s backers were promised a Pillars of Eternity II novella. Entitled Animancer: A Deadfire Story, that novella is now available to the eligible backers through the Deadfire backer portal. It can also apparently be purchased over here.
The story was written by Richard A. Knaak, a fantasy author known for his Dragonlance novels, as well as a good number of Diablo and Warcraft tie-in books. Here’s a quick overview:
