Dishonored 2 EGX Presentation Video

Arkane Studios art director Sebastien Mitton talked about the studio's approach to visual design in Dishonored II at EGX. After a brief overview of the team's past work and talent, Mitton went into the inspirations behind the specific visual direction of Dishonored II, the ways he built and pushed his team to produce his intended vision, explains his conception of graphics and art, and then the ways the team intends to raise the bar with the Void Engine technology powering the game.

Finally, he offered a long look at the ways the team applied all those concepts to build Dishonored 2's central location, Karnaca. This includes not only the city district, but also its smallest props:

Personally, I'm still not quite sold on the look of Dishonored 2. I realize this is a disappointingly vague reason, but I find that it looks off, not quite as painterly as the original. I suspect part of the reason might come down to their choice of technology, but I could be completely off. Either way, I suppose I won't be able to fully judge for myself until I see how it looks in motion on my monitor.
