Age of Wonders III Sold More than 500,000 Copies, New Patch in Development

While they're busy working on a new game, the folks at Triumph Studios have reasons to celebrate, as their Age of Wonders III recently passed the 500,000 copies sold mark, with a similar number of DLC packages sold too:

In the meantime Age of Wonders 3 has quietly moved beyond 500k sales of the base game, with a similar amount in DLC packages. So it looks like we might have to cancel our plans to make the next title a free to play casual game.

Perhaps as a result of this commercial success, the developers are now working on a new patch, based on the reports and feedback they've been receiving from players worldwide. No ETA as to when it will be published is available at the moment, though:

Also, we've been gathering updates for AoW3 for a future patch. So please keep sending us reports.

While we don't know the game's total budget and how many copies were sold at full price, this is still a pretty decent result for a niche game such as this. Whether that will mean Triumph Studios might come back to the series in the future, though, remains to be seen.
