10 RPGs and Kickstarter Games to Look Forward to in 2016

Rather than reflecting back on the games we played during 2015, both Gaming Respawn and Red Bull are looking toward the future and profiling some of the titles we'll be playing in 2016. Gaming Respawn's article focuses specifically on ten significant RPG releases:

Kingdom Come: Deliverance

Set in the 15th century medieval times, Kingdom Come focuses on historical accuracy, realistic content and the most impressive hand to hand sword fighting I've ever seen. Kingdom Come: Deliverance will use a first-person view and feature both ranged and melee combat. Combat is based on a physics system using inverse kinematics to determine the reactions of both combatants based on the speed and weight of a blow. This system aims to add greater variety and realism to the combat, coupled with a variety of basic combat moves and different weapons will have different characteristics making them useful for different purposes.

While Red Bull's article focuses on those games that were funded through Kickstarter campaigns, including a handful of RPGs:

Torment: Tides of Numenera

Classic RPG franchise being resurrected on Kickstarter for release in 2016, with Chris Avellone on scripting duties? Must be an inXile game. This sequel to 1999's Planescape: Torment set far in the future has been in production for years, but the team now have the benefit of experience working on several other games, as well as with the backers of those projects.

As project lead Kevin Saunders told us earlier this year, Wasteland 2 was the perfect test run, (We are proud of what we accomplished in Wasteland 2, but when that project began, much of the team was new to the technology, CRPG development, and each other. Through working together on Wasteland 2, the team gained valuable experience, which we bolstered by bringing in additional expertise in key areas.) Look for Torment to arrive early next year.
