Bloodborne: The Old Hunters DLC Announced, Release Date and Trailer

We already knew that an expansion was in the works for Bloodborne, but Sony waited until today's press briefing at Tokyo Game Show to announce the details. The DLC will be called "The Old Hunters", will be sold for $19.99/€14.99/£11.99 and will come out on November 24 simultaneously in all territories.

First, the trailer:

The blog post on the official PlayStation US blog includes some limited new information:

Set in a nightmare world where hunters from the past are trapped forever, explore brand new stages full of dangers, rewards, and deadly beasts to overcome. You'll find multiple new outfits and weapons to add to your arsenal as well as additional magic to wield and add more variety to your combat strategy.

With new story details, learn the tale of hunters who once made Yharnam their hunting grounds, meet new NPCs, and discover another side of the history and world of Bloodborne. Here's a brief glimpse of just some of what lies in store for you when The Old Hunters launches on November 24th, including Simon's Bowblade weapon, and new boss enemy Ludwig.

Interestingly, during the press conference it was also mentioned that the game has already sold 2 million copies, and that a new version of the game, which includes the base game and The Old Hunters DLC, will be available in Japan on December 3. No word as of yet on whether this Game of the Year-style repackaging will be released in other territories.

All in all, I have to say I was slightly disappointed by the new trailer. It's bountiful in terms of new weapons, yes, and the new bosses look suitably impressive, but From Software chose to showcase mostly old environments from the vanilla game in place of new DLC-exclusive areas. Hopefully, that's just because they don't want to spoil some of the DLC's most off-kilter stuff, and not because it will be light on content, especially considering the price.
