Deus Ex: Human Revolution was the subject of an episode of "Fail Forward", a video series by Rock, Paper, Shotgun that analyzes "interesting failures" in videogames. In the video, Marsh Davies argues that Human Revolution fails in making stealth interesting because it offers a way to circumvent challenges that are more interesting to engage with, and also fails in its representation of augmentation, because augmented people as represented in the game can't really be compared to disenfranchised minorities in our world, in spite of the developers' intention:
