Borderlands 2 Sold Over 12 Million Copies

Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford was a guest over at Larry "Major Nelson" Hryb's podcast and dropped a pretty interesting piece of information on Borderlands 2's sales. At around the 30:10 mark of the interview, Pitchford claims that the game has sold "well over" 12 million copies by now.

Pitchford noted that these undoubtedly impressive sales were one of the reasons that made the inclusion of Borderlands 2 in The Handsome Collection important and revealed that the title wasn't originally meant to be bundle with the next-gen port of Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel. Borderlands 2 only ended up being ported because the title shared the same engine as the title developed by 2K Australia.

Thanks, GameSpot.
