Kingdoms of Amalur is a Billion Dollar Franchise?

While Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning was an entertaining action RPG and we have to at least assume that Project Copernicus was an ambitious effort as well, I'm not sure that video game publishers in the market for new IP would consider Kingdoms of Amalur IP to be a "billion dollar franchise". Nonetheless, that is what this Tweet by Curt Schilling proclaims:
If someone were to buy Amalur, put team back on it, it's a billion dollar franchise, 2 years later and still no ones done what we were doing

As you'll see in the responses, this comment has prompted former Epic Games designer Cliff Bleszinski to ruffle some feathers:
Curt you can't just throw a bunch of bodies at it and attempt to make WoW and Skyrim. I wouldn't try to pitch the world series.

If you're putting together a band you don't open at an arena, you play shitty small venues and suck a lot first before building up.

...

Didn't mean to be disrespectful, just stating the obvious.

...

When I met you you were extremely nice and then told me you were making basically Skyrim and WoW and I was shocked tbh.

...

MMOs are the hardest and riskiest genre to make. That's why I stuck with shooters myself. :o

Hah, that was my mantra for years also. Hope someone picks up the IP regardless. Best of luck with it.

Internet arguments, gotta love 'em.
