Heroes of Dragon Age Announced as a Free-to-Play Mobile Title

While we haven't received the official press release yet, Eurogamer broke the news about a new Dragon Age title, Heroes of Dragon Age, which apparently is going to be released as a free-to-play mobile title. Here are some additional details:
Heroes of Dragon Age is being developed by EA Capital Games, one of the publisher's mobile-focused studios.

You'll be able to build a party of heroes and monsters from (presumably random and paid-for) packs of new fighters.

These characters and critters will "span Dragon Age lore", EA has promised - so look out for familiar faces from the console games so far.

Other Heroes of Dragon Age details such as a release date or launch platforms are still scarce. EA describes it as a "cross-platform" title though, so releases on at least iPhone and Android look likely.

While I could at least understand the appeal of Dragon Age: Journeys, this just leaves me confused.

EA today, in partnership with BioWare, announced the development of Heroes of Dragon Age, a squad-based combat game with addictive hero collection and engaging quests from the award-winning Dragon Age franchise. This standalone, cross-platform mobile game is being developed by EA Capital Games, a mobile-focused studio based in Sacramento, CA.

Heroes of Dragon Age lets fans build a party of famous heroes and feared monsters from packs featuring an array of unique 3D figures spanning Dragon Age lore. Players can battle each other in fast-paced, character-based combat and see their hero-leveling and squad-formation strategies pay off as they earn rewards and climb the leaderboard.
