The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Won't Feature Multiplayer, CD Projekt Confirms

Talking to Eurogamer, CD Projekt RED head of marketing Michal Platkow-Gilewski officially confirmed that The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt won't feature any multiplayer mode.
"Yes, I can confirm this," Michal Platkow-Gilewski, head of marketing, told me.

"There's no place for multiplayer in so strongly a story-driven game as The Witcher 3. We want to focus on the single-player experience, delivering more than 100 hours of truly immersive gameplay.

"Geralt," he said, "can be only one..."

While multiplayer had never been officially announced, CD Projekt had been noted to be hiring a "multiplayer programmer" for the at the time unannounced title in the past, and is known to be adding multiplayer "features" to Cyberpunk 2077.

While I wouldn't be surprised if we still saw some kind of arena mode leaderboard or some minimal online features like that in the Witcher threequel, this should assuage the fear of CD Projekt moving focus away from single-player in the future.
