Borderlands 2 Preorders Promising, Says Take-Two

It appears that the continued success of Borderlands over the last few years, no doubt fueled by frequent Steam sales and several DLC add-ons, has led to good tidings for Borderlands 2. Take-Two reported today, during its first quarter conference, that Gearbox's upcoming multiplayer shooter/RPG hybrid is currently the third-most preordered title in Take-Two's library, ever. This puts it just before Grand Theft Auto IV and San Andreas, both of which opened with launch day sales above a million units, and went on to sell over 20 million copies each.

Certainly, the game's extensive advertising campaign and preview coverage has helped build interest, though whether the game will be able to reach the same lofty sales heights as Take-Two's bigger properties remains to be seen.
