Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning Meet the Team Q&A: Curt Schilling

I'm not sure this was the best time for the community team at 38 Studios to publish a new "Meet the Team" Q&A for Kingdoms of Amalur: Reckoning, but I suppose some financial turmoil doesn't change the fact that plenty of fans would like to hear more about founder and chairman Curt Schilling, his day-to-day responsibilities, and his passion for gaming.
What's a typical day like for you on the Reckoning team?

A typical day at 38 for me goes like this: I usually arrive anywhere from 7:00 AM to 8:00 AM, letting the dogs bark and wake anyone up. (Patton my 11-year-old Rottweiler and Ellie our 3-year-old Maltese usually accompany me to work by the way, they like to play with Shortney and Bandit, my two ferrets.) I'll catch up on email, and then attend the 8:30 AM VP meeting on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday. I'll spend 80% of the day in meetings what free time I get, I love to roam the floor, talk to the team, and see what's happening. I have all reviews on my calendar, so I'll drop in on many of them unannounced to see a particular system being worked on. I'll generally head out around 2:00 PM 3:00 PM, handling phone calls on the 45 minute ride home.

How did you get your start in the video games industry? Do you have any advice for those looking to do the same?

I spent 23 years throwing a white ball, accurately, and for some reason someone saw fit to pay me stupid amounts of money to do so. My advice to anyone starting a company is to hold onto your equity as tightly as you can.

Is there anyone in the video games industry you really admire and would love to meet?

No one that I haven't met already. I admire Gabe Newell, the Valve guys, Carmack and Romero for their boldness, and the Blizzard guys of 5-6 years ago.
