Borderlands 2 Preview

3News is offering a new hands-on preview for Gearbox Software's sequel to the loot-heavy first-person RPG/shooter hybrid Borderlands. Here's a snip:
The enemy classes are awesomely creative as well. There are '˜skags' like a cross between a dog and a porcupine where the super skags can summon babies, and enhance them with special powers. This may include setting them on fire to burn you, charging them up with electricity to shock you. there's a lot and it's varied.

And that's just one class of enemy. In the hands-on level I played, there were skags, robots, dragon-like creatures, worm things which travelled underground like the aliens in Tremors, giant bugs and spiders.

And this is not a game where you run into these guys one by one. You can turn a corner and find yourself facing insurmountable odds. At one point there were 20 enemies all coming at me.

When you die you have two options take the easy way out and respawn (losing some of your money) or fight your way out. If you can earn a certain amount of experience points in a set time-frame, you can get a second chance at life.
