Infinity Blade II Reviews

ChAIR Entertainment's Infinity Blade sequel will be hitting iTunes later today (update: it's live now), so I thought I'd round up a few reviews to help you decide if a purchase is warranted.

IGN hands out a perfect 10/10:
Best of all, the entire package is a bigger and better value than the original in virtually every way. Four times the number of combat locations. Nearly triple the volume of equipment. Double the number of unique enemy types. And once you complete it all, a robust and challenging New Game+ awaits. Chair is also promising aggressive post-launch support, including cooperative multiplayer "Clash Mobs."

Infinity Blade 2 is a must own - it is the App Store's killer app.

Kotaku goes scoreless:
We can now specialize our weapons by adding gems that induce special effects like poison or health re-generation that is triggered during combos.

We even get a story worth caring about, as your first death introduces a twist to what these Infinity Blade games are really about. I re-played the game's introductory level once and its main loop three times, and, each time, the changes in the enemies and/or pathways made the experience feel new.

And TouchArcade gives it a perfect 5/5:
It's a consistently well put together visual feast that shows off what Unreal 3, and now your new devices, can do. And it's great that the core gameplay structure and action model still deliver. Basically everything that Infinity Blade does has been expanded on for Infinity Blade 2. There's so much more to do -- so much more to explore and see and learn as you hack-and-slash like a champ through a winding and much more complex environment. Straight-up, it's a great game.
