The official DC Universe Online website is currently down while SOE transitions the game to its expected free-to-play version, but in the meantime you can get a jump on things by downloading the new client from this direct link. And while you're at it, feel free to peruse the official press release to see what's in store for you once it's installed.

The bottom line? If you're looking for something new to play that doesn't require any up-front fees, then you could do much worse than Sony's well-received superhero MMO.
