Mass Effect 3 Multiplayer Confirmed by PC Powerplay

After months of rumors and speculation, it appears multiplayer has finally been officially confirmed for BioWare's sci-fi action-RPG Mass Effect 3.

The reveal comes on the upcoming issue of Australian magazine PC Powerplay, which had the chance to go hands-on with the multiplayer at BioWare's own offices and talk to project director Casey Hudson about this addition to the franchise. No detail on what the multiplayer mode itself entails is available, although the words used on the cover "fight alongside your friends" could fuel speculation about co-op, which would match some earlier rumors coming via Eurogamer.

This is not BioWare's first foray with multiplayer, but it's certainly a notable addition to what had been so far a single-player story-focused franchise, so it'll be interesting to see what the developer does with it and we'll definitely keep you updated.

Update: Considering some of you may err on the side of caution since the history of rumors for this, it's worth noting that BioWare tweeted confirming the mode:
ME3 will have a multiplayer option - we'll have more details in the coming days that will address your concerns!
