Ravensdale Preview

Given the fact that Spellbound's Ravensdale was originally described as "a fast-paced fantasy action game" in the initial press release, I'm not entirely sure if it's going to fall within our coverage. But until we know for certain (and because I have a soft spot for steampunk games), I'll point you over to this translated preview on Gamona that's based on firsthand time with the game during a trip they made to Spellbound's headquarters in Kehl, Germany:
The first thing that catches the eye especially, is the armor of the current character. Because it acts like a living machine, which is nestled at the character and emits steam from all possible openings. The heart of the defense, is a kind of machine on his back, into the fire rhythmically pounding of armor and thus gives more life of its own. The great attention to detail can be seen especially if one pays attention to the constant movements of the figure. Fold small nozzles out there sometimes on the feet or the arms is adjusted once again with a Kurble. A single push of the button and the helmet on the arms folded mechanically to give the face of the hero free.

As the weapon of the hero - not even noticed until then - is drawn further attention to detail can be put in appearances. A small hatchet, which dangles on the side of the hero folds apart and forms into a large two-hand battle. Another click is enough to shrink the weapon again and to hang unobtrusively on the side. However, the hero can of course even more. It can use various weapons and gadgets. For example, when he casually stretches his hand forward, he can produce a kind of force field. It started bullets on his wrist to rotate until they form an impressive, bright blue ring. After we have reviewed the hero of the game spend, we went over to us to see the landscape more closely, which is no less detailed. We are in a dirty fantasy city of very dark stone, with all the fantasy Steam Powered - is equipped elements. Chance of projecting large steam boiler or copper pipes from the walls - a little highlight, the smile was inviting a copper pipe sticking out of the branch of a dead tree.

In a circular course through the city to meet, amongst others on a dangerous looking orc with a huge machine on the back. Commenting on the Cay, that intends to exaggerated proportions and serve as a stylistic device - because that fits neatly in the fantasy world of steam powered one. Of course, this was not the only encounter with a character. A second is the hero on the path that looks like a giant human machine, which carries a big bull's skull as a lumbar protection. What role could such a monster later in the game, I have unfortunately not yet able to find out, this beast looks harmless but not ever. There was a small excursion into a dungeon beneath the city, it also, where we meet up again on our human machine!
I certainly hope they're just leaving the RPG-speak at the door to appease publishers, because this sounds like it could be pretty damn good.
