Syndicate Will Be Better as an FPS

Proclaiming that Internet naysayers need to "grow up", OXM UK proceeds to tell us why Syndicate is better off as a shooter rather than the squad-based tactical strategy/RPG it originated as. It's almost as if the publishers wrote the piece themselves:
If EA were to release Syndicate as a strategy game nowadays, the risk would be so high that it would have a fraction of the budget that Starbreeze has been afforded. It'd probably be a budget that wouldn't do the game justice. That's if the remake existed at all.

But just like Mass Effect 3 won't be a stupid game, I highly doubt Syndicate will be either. From what's surfaced so far, there's enough to suggest a rich plot based around corporate intrigue and the price of rampant, unchecked capitalism. Just because your primary form of interaction with that world is shooting people, doesn't automatically make it for thickies.

If the plot's strong and sophisticated enough, if the world's convincing and beautiful enough, if it's all put together well enough, it'll be a 'smart' game. Plus this time you'll experience that world with two feet planted on the ground, staring up in awe at the sheer scale of the thing, rather than hovering omnisciently above it all.
It's easy enough to cite examples of successful first-person shooters, sure, but I implore these people to point out the AAA isometric strategy or role-playing games that have flopped in recent years. They can't, because there aren't any.  And therein lies the problem.
