Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls Reviews

We have rounded up two new reviews for ACQUIRE's PSN-exclusive old-school dungeon crawler Wizardry: Labyrinth of Lost Souls, which should hopefully give us a better idea on whether the Japanese developers uphold the legacy of the prestigious franchise.

The game is definitely a bit of a niche title, with its audience primarily composed of people who enjoyed the old Wizardry games or those with an interest in what RPGs were like (back in the day). With that said, I recommend it fully. It's a welcome package of nostalgia for the old-timers like myself. And even to those who might not rememember the Wizardry series from back in the day, I recommend checking out the demo to see if you like it. It's a look back to a time before the distinction between Eastern and Western RPGs when they were just RPGs. I'm 45 hours in and have just reached the final boss and summarily had the floor wiped with my party; that should give you a hint as to the game's longevity.

Wethegamerz, 8.3/10.
All spoken dialog in the game is Japanese with no option to change it; meaning you're going to have to read page after page of dialog in order to get quests or to even save the game. However, the game still has its charms as there doesn't seem to be many dungeon crawlers on the market. It's refreshing to see this type of game available on a major console like this. If you're a fan of games like Ultima of Etrian Odyssey like me and you have a PS3, I'd recommend picking this game up. If you want to dip your toes in the water before jumping in, a demo is available as well.
