Atari has reached an agreement with "leading online game developer and operator based in China" Perfect World for the acquisition of Cryptic Studios, which Atari divested its interests in about a week ago. The sum Perfect World had to spend for the MMORPG developer is of roughly $50 Million.
Beijing China, May 31, 2011 -- Perfect World Co., Ltd. (NASDAQ: PWRD) ("Perfect World"), a leading online game developer and operator based in China, and Atari, S.A. (NYSE Euronext Paris: ATA) ("Atari"), today announced that they have entered into an agreement whereby Perfect World would acquire 100% equity interest in Cryptic Studios, Inc. ("Cryptic Studios"), a California-based online game developer from Atari, the sole shareholder of Cryptic Studios. Under the stock purchase agreement, Perfect World will pay an aggregate purchase price of approximately â‚¬35.0 million in cash, subject to working capital and other adjustments as provided in the agreement. The consummation of the transactions contemplated in the agreement is subject to satisfaction of closing conditions.
