Venetica Reviews

Those of you who have yet to pick up a copy of Deck 13's Venetica might want to venture over to GamePro for a new review that awards the game a 2/5:
I did have fun with Venetica -- a lot of fun, actually. But I can't forgive its bevy of bugs. I lost several hours whenever the game froze during saves. Toward the end, an important event didn't trigger properly -- and after four attempts to make it work, I shut down my PS3 and restarted. The scene then worked. And, of course, we've got the problem of crucial text dropping out for lines of miniature 1s and 0s during a boss fight. Games shouldn't reach retail in this condition, and while I'd love to give Venetica a higher score, Atari should've never allowed Venetica to reach the market in its current state; if I wasn't required to finish the game for my review, I would've put it back in the box after a few hours because of the save bugs.

However, Globe of Gamers gives it a considerably higher score of 75/100:
In the end I want to make something clear. I absolutely liked this game. Despite the goofy 2005-like graphics and the bad bathroom waterfall sounds, the game has certain something when it comes in telling the story, being told in an interesting and beautiful way. If you're not an hard core RPG player or you'd love to read a book but you're to lazy, then this game is perfect for you to pick it up.
