Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine Interview

AusGamers is offering up an interview that they recently conducted with Warhammer 40,000: Space Marine producer Andy Lang, though the discussion unfortunately steers clear of the game's RPG elements. We do get a small bit of info on the game's loot system, though:
AG: So in terms of gameplay length then -- given that it is basically shooting orcs in a barrel -- how are you guys looking to extend the life of it without it becomming repetitive?

Andy: We've got three different kinds of modes we're looking at. One is the set-piece, which you guys saw in the beginning with the Valkyries that the space marines are flying in -- we're going to have those throughout the experience to really sort of break away from the core experience of just shooting away and grinding through orcs. We also have our exotic weapons, as you saw the heavy bolter just taking out a thousand orcs that were coming at me. We're going to have five different exotic weapons and special encounters are wrapped around them to really give the player that sort of break from... again, just shooting and grinding through the orcs.
