DeathSpank PC Reviews

A few more reviews for the recently released PC version of DeathSpank have been made available for our general consumption, and they're all semi-favorable.

The Adrenaline Vault gives it a 3/5:
While certainly not a title that's going to find its way onto any Best of lists for 2010, I had a lot of fun during my time with DeathSpank. It's simple yet addictive gameplay had me in the (one more try) zone, and while not something I can see myself staying up all night to complete, it is definitely an adventure worth attempting.

ZTGD gives it a 7.3/10:
I think DeathSpank as a whole is still a rather enjoyable game. The combat works and works very well. The constant acquiring of new weapons and loot really keep the gamer playing. The only problem is the fact that all the quests boil down to gathering a bunch of items or killing a certain number of enemies. I think if you took your time with the game and try not to rush through it, you won't get as burned out on the quests. Plus, with a play time of just under 8 hours, you'll definitely get your $15 worth out of it.

And Rock, Paper, Shotgun doesn't score it:
Ultimately DeathSpank just feels a bit lightweight. Pretty and witty, but starved. There is little to do aside from blast through the (generally easy) quests, and there is little penalty for dying. The adventure and RPG elements amount to a couple of puzzles and some conversation trees that seem to generally land you in the same place whatever you might do. There are some clever, and occasionally oh-too-obvious, jokes locked away in there, and they somehow, just about, make it all worthwhile.
