Arcania: Gothic 4 Reviews

Halloween has given us a couple more reviews for Arcania: Gothic 4, though neither one is overly enthusiastic about the RPG.

The Final Dungeon concludes with a 6/10:
ArcaniA: Gothic 4 is a technically impressive, bug-free game, with above-average graphics and a fun action RPG combat system, but its shallow game world, reliance on fetch quests, and simplified game mechanics make it difficult to recommend. Do yourself a favor and fetch a better game instead.

While RoboAwesome gives it a slightly higher 7/10:
Gothic 2 and 3 made wonderful headway for Gothic 4 and provided a base which fans would flock to, but unfortunately Gothic 4 did not fully reach our expectations. This is a great game on its own, but when compared to other games it's unfortunately put to shame. I love many aspects of Gothic 4 but will always be saddened that while this game had so much opportunity to bring the series to the large scale market it may have instead contributed to ArcaniA remaining a favorite for only the small following that it has. It will most likely not resonate with a larger market, and fans will be disappointed that this is more of a set up for a Gothic 5 than a game in itself, as the ending made obvious.
