Monk Abilities
Level 1

Swift Strikes: The monk's hands become a frenzied blur of attacks, increasing their Attack Speed for a brief period.

Type: Active (requires 1 Wound)

Speed: Instant

Effect: +25% Attack Speed for 10s




Torment's Reach: This ability exploits the shared bonds of universal suffering between all beings. The initial target is hit with a powerful blow that does additional Crush damage. Enemies in a cone behind the target suffer Crush damage and have their Might reduced.

Type: Active (requires 1 Wound, melee only)

Speed: Average

Area of Effect: Target + 2.0m length, 135-degree cone

Effect (Foe AOE): -2 Might for 20s vs. Reflex

Effect (User): Full Attack vs. Deflection, +50% Damage as Crush




Transcendent Suffering: Monks achieve greater understanding of their bodies' capabilities through enduring the hardships of existence. Their base Unarmed Damage starts much higher than other characters and increases permanently every three levels they gain.

Type: Passive

Effect (Level 1): +2 Unarmed Damage

Effect (Level 4): +4 Unarmed Damage, +4 Unarmed Accuracy

Effect (Level 7): +6 Unarmed Damage, +8 Unarmed Accuracy

Effect (Level 10): +[8 + 2 every 3 levels after 10] Unarmed Damage, +[12 + 3 every 3 levels after 10] Unarmed Accuracy


Level 3

Force of Anguish: A powerful attack that knocks the target back a significant distance. The target bumps others out of the way and bounces off hard surfaces like walls before ending up Prone.

Type: Active (requires 2 Wounds, melee only)

Speed: Average

Interrupt: 0.5s

Effect (Target): 7.0m Push, Prone for 10s vs. Fortitude

Effect (User): Full Attack vs. Deflection




Long Stride: Intense practice and years of study enable the monk to move with confident fluidity in battle. During combat, the monk's Movement Rate is significantly increased.

Type: Passive

Effect: +2 Move Speed




Turning Wheel: The monk is able to channel physical pain into pure energy and redirect it at his or her attackers. While the monk has Wounds, he or she adds a proportional fire bonus to Melee Damage.

Type: Passive

Effect (User): +5% Burn Damage per Wound


Level 5

Clarity of Agony: Through pain the monk is able to cleanse his or her body, reducing the duration of incoming and existing hostile effects by half.

Type: Active (2 per rest)

Speed: Instant

Effect (User): -50% Duration for hostile effects for 10s




Soul Mirror: Calls upon the power of the monk's psyche, reflecting half of ranged missiles targeting only the monk back to their point of origin. Only attacks resulting in a Miss have a chance to be reflected back.

Type: Passive

Effect (User): 50% chance to reflect ranged attacks




Stunning Blow: A head-targeting strike designed to disrupt enemies' ability to react. Enemies hit by a successful attack are Stunned.

Type: Active (2 per encounter, melee only)

Speed: Average

Interrupt: 0.5s

Effect (Target): Stunned for 3s vs. Fortitude

Effect (User): Full Attack vs. Deflection


Level 7

Crucible of Suffering: The monk receives insight through endurance, gaining a temporary bonus to Fortitude, Reflex and Will whenever a hostile effect expires.

Type: Passive

Effect (User): +10 Fortitude, +10 Reflex, +10 Will for 20s




Duality of Mortal Presence: The monk gains two modal abilities that allow him or her to switch between a bonus to Deflection or a bonus to all other defenses.

Type: Modal

Speed: Instant

Effect: +8 Deflection or +8 to All Defenses except Deflection




The Long Pain: The monk becomes capable of projecting force from his or her fists, inflicting damage at long range.

Type: Active (rquires 2 wounds)

Speed: Average

Effect (self): Summon Weapon Long Pain Fists (x2) for 30s




Rooting Pain: Generates a shockwave around the monk each time he or she gains a Wound, inflicting a small amount of damage to and possibly calling an Interrupt on all enemies in the area of effect.

Type: Passive

Speed: Average

Area of Effect: 1.25m Radius

Interrupt: 0.5s

Effect (Foe AOE): 10-15 Crush damage vs. Fortitude


Level 9

Enervating Blows: By targeting certain points on an enemy, the monk is able to inflict physical weaknesses. Melee Critical Hits cause the target to become Weakened.

Type: Passive

Effect (Target): Weakened for 15s vs. Fortitude


Level 11

Flagellant's Path: In the blink of an eye, the monk streaks toward a distant target, inflicting terrible Crush damage on it, plus penalties to all defenses on anyone in his or her path.

Type: Active (requires 3 Wounds)

Speed: Average

Range: 10m

Interrupt: 0.5s

Effect (Target): 20-30 Crush damage, -10 All Defenses for 8s vs. Deflection




Iron Wheel: The pain from the monk's wounds allows him or her to build Damage Reduction against incoming attacks.

Type: Passive

Effect (User): +1 Damage Reduction per Wound


Level 13

The Dichotomous Soul: In the blink of an eye, the monk streaks toward a distant target, inflicting terrible Crush damage on it, plus penalties to all defenses on anyone in his or her path.

Type: Active (requires 8 Wounds)

Speed: Average

Effect (User): Summons duplicate




Skyward Kick: The monk launches a target into the air, slamming them back down to the ground and leaving them Prone.

Type: Active (2 per encounter, melee only)

Speed: Average

Interrupt: 0.5s

Effect (Target): Prone for 3s vs. Fortitude

Effect (User): Primary Attack vs. Deflection


Level 15

Resonant Touch: The monk's strikes generate a sympathetic resonance between the monk and his or her target. Successive strikes increase the intensity of the resonance. At a time of the monk's choosing, the monk can cause the resonance to inflict devastating Raw damage to anyone currently carrying them.

Type: Active (1 per encounter)

Speed: Average

Area of Effect: 3m Radius from Caster

Effect (AOE): 10 Raw Damage per Resonance vs. Will

Effect (Passive): Target gains Resonance when dealt at least 10 damage
