When you create a new character, Factions offers a very focused newbie experience. If you're totally new to Guild Wars, you'll encounter an NPC that will instruct you on the very basics -- movement, attacking, and the like. You'll be lead through a short quest series that will school you on all of these different elements, and as you progress through it, you'll gain your first few skills, your starter weapons, and enough experience to level up. If you're an experienced player, you may lack the patience to go through all this, though, in which case you can choose proceed straight to the starter zone proper. You'll miss out on a bit of color text, but you'll be no worse for wear.
