Dragon Age: Origins Preview

Yet another preview of BioWare's Dragon Age: Origins has hit the web, and this time it's over at Australian website Gameplayer.
Most of the game experience is squad-based, with new members becoming available as you progress. As with Baldur's Gate, combat can be engaged in real-time or you can pause the action to queue up attacks. While we weren't shown how this would work on a console, we would imagine it will be similar to Mass Effect's action wheel. One of the reasons why it's so hard to predict how BioWare will approach the conversion of controls is that there isn't any other game like this on consoles.

Going out on a limb has its advantages, though, and Muzyka (BioWare's CEO) seems confident people will respond to Dragon Age positively. (I think people want it,) he told us. (Especially with the way we're approaching the fantasy, because it's not your traditional high fantasy or Tolkien-esque fantasy. This is dark, mature and gritty. There are choices you get to make, but they all have consequences and you're going to feel that whatever choice you make they'll never feel like perfect choices. You make the choice you think is best for you and you'll have to live with it.)
