The Lord of the Rings Online: Siege of Mirkwood Q&A, Part One

GamerZines has cranked out the first portion of an interview they did with Turbine's Jeffrey Steefel about their forthcoming The Lord of the Rings Online: Siege of Mirkwood expansion pack. This isn't directly SoM-related, but it's a question a lot of us have been curious about:
GZ: You've never been tempted to add a micro-transaction model to LOTR: Online?

JS: Well we just did that with Dungeons & Dragons Online with the item store and so far it's going really well. We do think about it, but more in terms of providing choice. It's not just about how we make more money from our customers, it's more about how can we continue to grow and provide what players want. We want players to be able to pay for content in different ways that are comfortable for them, not everyone has forty hours a week to play and $19.95 a month to spend. Maybe someone just wants to participate in the game for a couple of hours a week, perhaps the value exchange for them has to be different. Again these are things we are talking about way down the line, in the future. Maybe there are people that would rather spend $10 a month, they want to spend it on content instead of a subscription. Then there's other people who don't want to be bothered about that and they'll happily pay a monthly or even lifetime subscription.
