You'll automatically trigger this quest when you approach the Bastion to the west of Kaer Morhen.


Walkthrough

When you reach the Bastion, you'll discover that it's being haunted by some level 23 wraiths, and you'll decide to investigate why they're there. To that end, you should turn on your witcher senses and explore the grounds. Almost immediately your medallion will start "hopping," but you won't see anything.

To reveal what you're missing, you'll need to use the Magic Lamp (from the quest An Invitation from Keira Metz) to view paranormal remnants of past events. You'll find four such sites (visible as sparkling lights) in the Bastion (#1). They'll show you a young boy training to become a witcher. After viewing enough of these remnants, you'll realize that it's the ghost of the boy who is attracting the wraiths.

To put the boy to rest, you'll need to locate his remains. You'll find them in the northeastern tower (#4), which you can reach by climbing a pair of ladders (#3). When you pick up the Boy's Remains, four more wraiths will appear in the Bastion, and you'll have to defeat them.

To finish cleansing the Bastion, you'll need to burn the Boy's Remains. You can do this at one of the remnant sites (#1a), where you'll see a spot where you can "burn body." Interacting with this spot will cause you to burn and bury the body, which will complete the quest and earn you 50 xp.
