Did we miss anything during this quest? Is there something we didn't discover? Let us know!

Welcome to Cyrodiil, prisoner.

When you begin the game, you'll be in your cell. Whatever crimes you committed to put you there, though, are only a part of your past now, because you shortly receive a visit from the Emperor and a couple ferocious looking guards. Listen to what he has to say, and do as they ask: follow them through the secret opening in the cell and into the imperial city underground. Thus begins the tutorial section.

Follow the guards to their first fight and simply watch it play out, standing back. When it's over examine each of the bodies to see if there's anything you wish to grab. The Mythic Dawn robes and gear are worthless for protection and value, but you'll get something more suitable very soon. To equip your items, simply go into your inventory (TAB on the PC), click either the Axe or Shield icon and then click on what you'd like to equip; the items appear on your character in real time. To look at the map, use the compass and seled the first tab.

Throughout the tutorial, you'll be led through a variety of passageways by the guards, be left by yourself in mini-caverns, and be fed tips whenever you explore or do something you haven't yet already, such as find a bow or open a chest. I suggest if you haven't gone through the manual to thoroughly read the tips and learn the basics of the game. It will serve you well here and beyond. Also, even here in the tutorial, search all the containers you can for helpful items that you can use to sell once you make it to a town; until you can afford to buy several repair hammers at once, you'll be depending on merchants or the few you can find during your adventuring. So every bit helps!

It matters not what items you equip at this point in the game. You're more than a match for any foe, with any weapon or armor. Simply make this your time to figure things out and you'll have an easier time discerning what to hold onto in the future. In fact, the tutorial throws so many items your way that you'll likely even get a tutorial popup on encumbrance!

When you reach the first cavern with the bow and arrows, and locked chest tutorials, search the body of the goblin shaman for the key to the nearby door which you must unlock to proceed (alternatively use your lock picks). Back in the manmade underground, continue following the linear passages to their conclusion - fighting a few creatures on your way - to find the most difficult challenge of the tutorial, the next set of caverns with the goblin encampment.

Here's where you'll have your first chance at the sneaking tutorial, which you can of course choose not to do and just go after the unsuspecting goblin if you like. Once past him, continue through the caverns until you get to a downward slope with an archer goblin who will not hesitate to fire arrows your direction. See those logs at the top of the slope? If you get close, you can "activate" them to send them rolling down the slope to trample the surprised goblins below. Otherwise, dispense of them using your preferred method.

Search the bodies and round the corner to the left below, and you'll be facing the opening to the wide open goblin encampment, the toughest area in the tutorial. It's actually not difficult at all if you don't rush in but instead take enemies one at a time, so that's what I suggest you do. There are 3 goblins in the area and a few rats to deal with in the central pit. They will usually hear you if you get close to them, so don't run blindly in and you should be fine. Remember, whether or not you're using a shield, block incoming attacks before you attack yourself, and then just put in a couple to a few quick strikes before blocking again. Don't hesitate to use your flare fire damage spell on any of them when you have enough magicka. A fast way to cast during melee is to block, then after they attack, immediately press the cast button while still holding block, and you'll lower your guard for the cast but put it up again after. Finally, don't be afraid to use the potions you've found to help.

There's a magic user here as well, and you'll have to either out cast him, close in for battle, or use your arrows, but I suggest when it's his time, close in or sneak up to him, then strike. When you're no longer concerned with the enemies in the area, search everywhere, including under the walkways, for chests and more items, then head out the back right passageway to the nearby exit back to the manmade area.

Things are almost coming to a close here, so take heart that a few assassination attempts later and a small traipse through the sewers, you'll be free. When you round a corner coming from the caverns, you'll see the Emperor and his guards get attacked once more. Don't participate, and when the guards then turn on you, the Emperor will call them back and speak once again with you. This is where you customize your character further. You'll get one final chance to make any changes after the sewers, so don't fret them now.

Continue following the Emperor and guards through these corridors and another door until they suspect a trap. Follow them into the nearby room, and they'll be ambushed. Remain with the Emperor. Now is your chance to test your level 1 mettle. After the Emperor hands you the Amulet of Kings, and explains you will need to seek out Jauffre for information on his son, an assassination attempt on the Emperor will be successful. Immediately afterward, you find yourself facing a mythic dawn assassin. Whether or not you have a shield, block his incoming attacks the best you can (right-click on PC) if indeed he comes after you, and soon Baurus arrives on the scene and finishes him up.

With the information the Emperor gave you, you relay it to Baurus and eventually figure out the next step of the quest, which is to deliver that amulet to Jauffre who's residing in Weynon Priory near the town of Chorrol, to the west of Imperial City (where you are). However, the tutorial is not over yet - almost, but not quite - you still have the sewers.

The "hard" part is over, so continue where Baurus directed you through the door into the sewers. There you'll find a rat in the first large room, and if you exit through the right corridor in the first room, another rat. Head left now into an octagonal room with two goblins. Here's your chance to prove you've hopefully learned a thing or two and toast them before continuing left, fighting another rat, and then straight toward the exit door.

Save your game here, and activate the last door. You can use this save game at any time to entirely recreate your character: everything from name to appearance to any other skill or class decision can be redone here. A menu pops up which allows you to make the choices, and when you're happy with them, exit to the big, wide world of Cyrodiil. Congratulations on finishing the tutorial.

Though after you get out you can essentially do anything you wish for as long as you wish, I recommend hurrying (though not fast-traveling) to Jauffre in Weynon Priory to at least begin the Main Quest: Deliver the Amulet.
