If you are speaking of the general gems, the best use I've found for them is to set them on the ground and use the light's they give off to make shapes. I like emeralds best just because they are green. Basically, gems are just 1 pound items to make lots of money off.

Another possible reason may be if they where summoned. It's not likely to be the case, but if it is, I know you don't get exp for summoned creatures in DD, so that might also be a problem... like I said, not likely, but still...

I assume you mean for BD, but I haven't played it, anyways, if it's at all like DD the reson you aren't getting any exp is because they are too low. Try to remember the last time you killed them and DID get exp, did it seem like a really low number?

I beat it my second time around, but the entire time I got like 8-10 gold charms the ENTIRE time. I had enough stuff to put me over 100% fire resistance, but there weren't nearly enough gold charms to fill the spaces I had. If you fail this quest, it's more than just a failed quest... you've broken the game for your character, I recall I couldn't fix this once, and once I could but I dunno' how I fixed it before... maybe I didn't? I dunno', anyway, be EXTREMELY careful when you do this quest.
