| Ages ago, a Rashemi youth camped at the Falls of Erech, the massive waterfall that marks the northwestern-most part of Rashemen. It was custom for youths leaving on the dajemma - journey of adulthood - to stay there at least one night, and the young man was eager to observe this tradition, giving his offering to the roaring waters before lying down to sleep. As the youth slumbered, warriors from a nearby Nar barbarian tribe moved toward him, intent on murder and theft. Before they could harm him, however, a spirit possessed the youth, and allowed him to defend himself with stunning skill and savagery. As the spirit fled his body, the youth looked around at his slain attackers in wonder, and noticed a strange new ring on his finger - an additional gift from the spirits to protect him from harm. |
