Is there a period of time that a person'll be hostile before returning to normal, or is it likely to be permanent?

At first it was only the guards on the right of the map, then I ran away from them over to the left, and as soon as the guard there saw the other guard, he turned hostile as well!!

If I kill all the attacking guards I drop 6 rep. points, this is something I do not want to do!

A few of my characters seem to be missing some of their high-level abilities. for example.. my lvl 16 Avenger(druid) has Stone Elemental Transformation ( or whatever it's called ) and has now chosen Aura of Flaming Death... but the Aura has not shown up anywhere... there are no new special ...

I'm now about to enter the palace in suldanesselar <sp?> and I am still only halfway through the romance with Jaheira.. She has only asked me about the last battle once.. my lovetalk value is 52 and i'm waiting for something to happen..

Should I try to get the romance to proceed normally ...

the lovetalk value with Jahiera is 47.. but the "JaheiraRomanceActive" value is 3, which I thought meant that the romance is over... the only thing that I can think of that might have messed up the romance is that Jaheira was petrified which I think basically removes the NPC from the party ...
