The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf Retail Listings "A Mistake"

It's been a long time since we've heard anything about The Witcher: Rise of the White Wolf, and unfortunately, the news isn't so good. Back in May, it appeared on a few different Danish games retailers, including CoolShop and Blockbuster. They were quickly pulled, but it got fans talking again about the long-awaited console version of the first Witcher game.

Now Joystiq is reporting that the appearance of these games was indeed just a fluke. Speaking with Adam Badowski, CD Projekt RED's managing director, he revealed that the game's listing on those sites was "a mistake" and that it isn't planned any time soon - the game was definitively canceled three years ago. He did tease, however, that there still might be a chance for a re-release of the game somewhere down the road.

Unfortunate, but not at all unexpected. CD Projekt will still be showing off both their upcoming mod tools for The Witcher II and the recently-announced Cyberpunk RPG at Gamescom, so expect to hear news on that in the near future.
