Crimson Alliance Reviews

We have another small batch of reviews for Certain Affinity's Crimson Allinace, and while they all seem to fall more or less on the favorable side, they are not exactly enthusiastic about the title.

Mana Tank, 8.0/10.
Overall Crimson Alliance is a pretty good game with some minor flaws here and there. The characters and world are interesting enough to capture the player's attention and draw them in, however some of the story could've been elaborated on a bit more without the game suffering. The game's upgrade/ equipment system is simple and works well, allowing players to focus more on playing the game as opposed to spec-ing their character. Co-Op play is where Crimson Alliance really shines and the leader- boards allow for great replayability for players wanting go back and beat their scores. The spell/ abilities of the characters could have been a little more varied in order to make single-player combat a bit more interesting (since Co-Op is where the spells and abilities combine together with players for more engaging combat). And as mentioned previously, although the Co-Op game-play is fun, difficulty enhancers to enemies and bosses during online cooperative play would allow players to face more of a challenge. Despite the few shortcomings of this game, it's a solid addition to similar classics of the past. Fans of the Action RPG genre will thoroughly enjoy Crimson Alliance and should definitely consider picking it up.

Lazygamer, 6.5/10.
Not a bad button-smasher and it won't leave you feeling like you've been hard done by if you embrace the co-op and develop a strategy. Save this one for when there's a lull in the gaming market.

Capsule Computers, 6.5/10.
Crimson Alliance is a good game, but most of its strength lies in one place, and that's the combat. If broken up into smaller chunks the repetitive element isn't such a problem, but the lack of any decent connection to the game world makes it largely forgettable, and it's definitely not an RPG. It's a strong enough action adventure which I did enjoy playing, but it lacks a unique selling point or a strong sense of character to help it stand out from the crowd.
