Model Citizen help

Post by Guido »

Can anyone one help me with the model citizen mission? The problem I am having is that if the sneak meter hits 50 or more, I automatically lose the mission. Is there anyway around this glitch  ? Any advice would apprecitated.:confused

Unsure if this is a bug or because you happened to have been spotted. If you provide your Stealth and maybe you patch version, it might help determine your problem if there is one.

I'm assuming you have learned their movement patterns and all ?

another rancid quest - with sneak 9 it isn't a problem, but with lower skill levels, you can fail this quest without knowing, just by the meter reaching the 100. it must reach the hundred to fail when not bugged.

I once did it by sneak feeding on them, but don't recommend that way.

There is a narrow margin where you can hide near 2 of the camera installation locations. I believe I managed this once before with very low Stealth skills. Maybe 3.

Bloodbuff might help here, since it raises your Dex giving you a greater total to Stealth checks if it's necessary.

But the OP was about failing at 50... which should not be the case, although it tends to rise pretty quickly from 50 to 100....

This has been discussed elsewhere, but the short version is this: You can't 'run' that level. There are places where you simply have to sit and wait, sometimes for a long time, for the right conditions before you can proceed. You do need to have sneak on and I suppose it must be at some minimal value, because sometimes you are hiding 'in plain sight' as it were. It's really easy to get nervous and do something precipitous that will cause you to fail. Long version (spoiler - blacked out):
Spoiler
Go in sneaking, and take your time. This is nowhere to be hasty. Up the stairs, you will find the opening to the dining room. Edge around until you can just see the passageway from the dining room into living room. Wait for Tawny to walk from the dining room to the kitchen. When she does that, move through to the living room and set the camera on the table behind the sofa. Wait there. Turn so you can see the kitchen opening and the back of the sofa.

Patrol paths:
Tawny: Will go from the kitchen to the dining room and back, staying for awhile in each location. She spends the longest amount of time in the kitchen, so that's the best place for her to be.

The BF: Will go from the bathroom to the living-room, sit on the sofa for awhile, and go back to the bathroom, or from the bathroom to the bedroom, talk on the phone for awhile, and go back to the bathroom. Sometimes he will go straight from the bedroom to the living-room, but not much. When he goes to the living room, he stays on the sofa longer than he stays elsewhere, but he doesn't go there much. He spends most of his time in the bathroom. If a real person did it that much, they'd be very, very sick.

When Tawny is in the kitchen and her BF goes into the bathroom, sneak into the bedroom and behind the dressing-blind between the bed and desk (on the desk side). You can't just do this willy-nilly, though. You should wait until the BF comes into the living room and sits down, and then heads for the bathroom again. When he's about halfway back to the bathroom, head for the bedroom (follow him). You can plant the camera on the bed-stand before going behind the dressing-blind, but if you're having trouble, just do this one step at a time. You can get adventurous later. You'll have to listen for when the BF goes into the bathroom, so keep the sound on. If you're not certain what to listen for, wait for him to do it once or twice (he does it a lot) so you know what to listen for - the bathroom door opening.

When the BF goes to the bathroom again, if you haven't already done so, plant the camera on the bed-stand and return to your station behind the dressing-blind.

This next part sometimes takes quite awhile, so be patient. You need to wait for the BF going to the living-room. You can position yourself behind the dressing-blind so that you can see through a crack and detect when he walks into the living-room. As soon as he goes there, go into the bathroom and plant the last camera, and return to your station behind the dressing-blind. At this point, you can type in the password right away, or wait for the BF to go into the bathroom again first before you type it in.

Finally, you want to wait until the BF is going into the bathroom and Tawny is in the kitchen again. At that point, you should be able to sneak right through the living-room and through the dining-room and out without being detected. On your way into the living-room, check to make sure that Tawny is in the kitchen. If she's not, then duck behind the sofa again and wait for her to be in the kitchen, and her BF to be in the bedroom or bathroom before you leave. If she's just turning to head for the living-room (very unlikely), your best bet is to freeze until her back is turned before going behind the sofa, or go back behind the blind and try again. You're done!

Hiding behind the sofa in the living-room is the riskiest part. If Tawny happens to go to the dining-room while you're there and your stealth is not high enough to avoid detection, you're done. You don't need much, though, since you're quite a ways away from her. Sneak 3 should be enough.
If you're nossie, of course, just obfuscate and waltz through. Not much danger. If you've got celerity, you have a lot more room for error. You don't need either, though. They just make it much easier.
