Tutorial trouble; stealth mode

Okay, Jack has just instructed me to sneak past a Sabbat and go through a door, seems simple enough, but I can't work out how to get past

I wondered if there was a bug or something similar, because it looks like he should go on patrol, then there's an explosion and he comes back and stands exactly where it looks like the vampire should cross from one side of the street to the other

There are a pile of boxes, which are too well lit, a car which so far I've tried various combinations of going round/climbing over with no success

The closest I've come is going straight accross, climbing over the car as the Sabbat gets called away and just reaching the shadow on the other side when he spots me

What are you supposed to do? I'm not even going to pretend it isn't embarrassing not being able to get past the tutorial but is there something I'm missing?

Just hug the warehouse wall and wait between the boxes and the wall... after he turns away from the explosion and starts walking back, go behind his back, and there you are.
