Elizabeth Dane glitch

I have completed the game but I am playing it over with a Malkavian. (Which due to dialogue is a bit harder) And I came to the Elizabeth Dane quest. Not a hard one the guards aren't too sharp and seem to never see me even when I am sure they will. I explored the sight and this note even popped up on the top left of my screen. But for some reason my quest log does not update and when I go back to the boat I used to get there and it wont go back to Santa Monica. I even loaded an earlier game (right after I left LaCroix's) And did the quest again but it still won't registered as complete. It tells me at the top left that I saw the scene but it still wont update the quest log and there for does not let me leave the Elizabeth Dane.

If you talked to the cop by the rail, when you first get to the Dane, you maybe able to get part of the quest done there. Otherwise, you'll need to not just see what's what, but you do need another item, and maybe even to see the log.

Well I know I needed the ships manifest, and I went back to get it. When I got to the little boat it still wouldn't go but I left to get something to drink and came back in santa monica. I guess it was lagging and I didn't have the patience to sit there.
