i'm pretty sure that the only time you have access to the museum is when you're doing the mission for lacroix, so if you want the fetish, you're going to have to revert to an older save.

While were on the subject of this quest does anyone know of a way to get the fetish without shooting the glass? I mean it suppose to be a stealth mission. I feel stupid discharging a gun at 3 in the morning inside the Natural History Museum that I'm robbing.

I think you can break the glass with melee strikes but it takes longer and you are more likely to be caught. The only real recourse is to shoot the glass and then hide inside the lab where you found the fetish.

The guards cannot leap over the ledge into the lab, so they will look elsewhere provided that your Stealth skill is high enough to help you avoid detection.

Pekka - where to find it

Mild spoiler -
As everyone has talked about, it's inside the museum, in the part that there are cameras that you have to get through. You have to find a room with no door to it that the only way to get there is to break the glass and jump inside. The fettish is on the table.

Yes you can use melee weapons... and yes, it takes forever. I think I tried it once and it took at least three rotations of the guard rounds (or more) before it finally went down. Neither the fireaxe nor one large hammer nor even one sword you cannot normally get (I hexxed these in just to test) perform better than 2-3 gunshots.

I think the reason is the buggy melee hit detection. Move around until the weapon doesn't go through the window. Then it breaks immediately.

It does make one think that one gunshot would echo through the corridors and rooms into the farthest stall of the most remote rest-room, doesn't it? OTOH, I used to always kill the guard in the first suveillance room in the basement. Doing the rest of that level involves at least 2 if not three patrols past that station, and, as you say, in the meantime somebody is firing a gun in there. Yet nobody notices the poor schmoe dead on the floor of the ops center (and you don't even get the chance to stuff him under the counter). Fear not - it's not the only incongruity in the game, and to be fair the developers were kind of under the gun, as it were.

Killing guards in the museum

That's the easy solution. Kill a guard or two. But guys, you get 2 extra XP for making it out of the museum without killing anyone. Me, I try to get every extra XP possible for my character, depending on how I'm building him. And this is an easy one for me - even if the guards find me after I shoot the glass (I never had to shoot it more then once), I run away, try to lose them, and make it through without killing anyone. Just my take. The extra XP is nice when you try to take this approach every mission.

well i just downloaded the latest unofficial patch... until now i was playing on the 1.2 official patch and all i can say is if you could get the crossbow from the vampire hunters , then you could break the glass very easy without any noise... however from what i know , the crossbow doesn`t drop from them even if they have it equipped when they die... i posted this with the thought that maybe after all these patches , the hunters actually drop their weapons when killed

and for ppl who are wondering how to find a vampire hunter all i can say is break the masquerade and they`ll come to ya :D

*edit* you can also get the crossbow during the quest started by knox harrington in the asylum ( the kuei`jin that you must kill dropped it for me today )

Indeed having almost all enemies drop their weapons on death is one special feature of the unofficial patch.

and again i must thank you very much for doing this... it didn`t make sense for them not to drop their weapons i mean in real life you can even take the underwear off your victims ( not that it does you any good but i wanted to illustrate a point here )

like i said because of this patch i got that nice shin bunto or however it`s called and the normal crossbow from that kuei`jin from santa monica :D ( and it really came in handy at the museum )
