Morrowind Script Extender

Post by dragon wench »

Inspired by Bluesky (*glares* :D ), I am considering a reinstall since Brash's landscapes tend to seriously mess up housing mods and such if they are situated on hillsides, and it's really beginning to irritate me.
Anyway, I am considering using the MWSE this time around, and I'm wondering what peoples' experiences have been.
Also, I have an old machine... considering that additional scripts are being introduced, how nasty is it on the FPS?

On my old computer it brought about something like a 10% FPS hit. It wasn't as though the game suddenly became unplayable (I already had an average FPS), but it became a nuisance. I eventually uninstalled it. Ironically it's the same story all over again with OSE on my new computer.

Decided not to install NOM...for that fix I just help my daughter play the Sims...LOL

Now with a new race added...duh... didn't notice this in the read me's...
Am still trying to figure out new character...am going female, not beast have played enough Khajit and Argonian for now..hmmm decisions... ;)

Think I've got all the mods I want to try now and have cleaned using testool.
If somebody doesn't entice me with more....Fable:laugh:

@Tricky,
damn... that is what I was afraid of. Unfortunately I need to be selective, and while a number of mods using MWSE look really interesting, there are other mods higher on my priority list. *sigh*

@Bluesky,
Regarding NOM, I am seriously thinking of replacing NOM with Morrowind Crafting this time around, we'll see ;)

As far as the beast races go, I understand, though I'd still strongly suggest "Better Beasts," just because it makes all of the Khajiits and Argonians in the game look really great, even if you aren't playing as one.

...I`m currently going page by slow page through File Planet to see which mods I might have previously overlooked :D

You don't know what you're missing! :D Such as--

casting spells with your weapon drawn.
a book that can hold new spells, and make them available at need.
a portable hole that can be used for storage. And has an attitude.
90+ armors from mods (with permission) gathered in a single mod.
hire the Morag Tong to do an assassination for you.
capturing souls and preparing bodies to make undead.
as a vampire, drain other vampires, and gain a bit of their powers.
brew potions for offensive use in battle, using alchemy.
raise dead people with a keypress.
redecorate, moving anything in 3 dimensions.
share inventory items between games, using a simple spell.
have smarter characters open doors to pursue you.
teleport companions as well as yourself.
inventory bags.

Not a bad list of things, at all.
To the Righteous belong the fruits of violent victory. The rest of us will have to settle for warm friends, warm lovers, and a wink from a quietly supportive universe.

Final install list:
Ale clothing
Area Effects arrows
Better Bodies
Bitter coast sounds
Book jackets
Book Rotate
Clothiers of Vvardenfell
Features if Vvardenfell
Firemoth
Louis' Beauty Shop
Masterindex
Mournhold Expanded
Myrabells' Clothing
New Rethan Manor
Sandas
Solstheim Seaside cabin
Souly Soulgems
Swampy swamps
World of faces

and of course the two I always add,
TES map....I tend to get lost a lot :D
And Vibrant Morrowind
I tended to not add quite some many this time only the ones I've really like in the past and the "new" ones that everybody seemed to recommend as quite good. Tried to stay away from those that seemed to cause conflicts.

ps. @ Fable thanks for re-posting the conflict mods link. :)

You just had to make this more painful, didn't you! :D It was the redecorating mod, and smarter NPCs that made me consider installing this in the first place... *sigh*
I'm not into necromancy or assassinations, and I don't find it that bad to teleport companions at present (I just get them to wait and then use the rings/amulets to have them warp to me.)
But the other mods there look pretty good... *sighs again*

Please help me choose...

Rather than creating another reinstall thread here, I decided to just use this one, which is essentially the same anyway.
OK... my problem is that I like using mods but I have an old machine, which means my fps is sorely affected, *sigh* So, I'm trying to pair my list down to something manageable, and I'm hoping all you good people can help me decide which mods to include and which to ditch.

I also have a question, you'll notice I list a lot of texture replacers, would it actually be easier on my system to just use a single retex such as Ultimate Textures or similar? Also, I had been using Brash's landscapes and it caused serious problems with housemods and the like if they were located on hills, i.e K.W Shipman's Caldera Retreat sank...
I'd like to avoid this problem, and I've heard it exists for some of the other texture overhauls, so any information on this would be appreciated.

Anyway, here is my list from which I'd like to pick and choose, input would be great (note: I already know all of these are high quality mods, that isn't the issue, I'm just trying to decide between them):

@ DW

I tend to install as few quests as possible.....I'm easily distracted...LOL:laugh:
Love seeing your lists, although it has given me the idea to add a few more to my re-install. Especially the houses.
I did see, cannot remember where....old age maybe :o ....might be off one of Fable's replies...conflict list maybe...a thread about the houses and textures, seems to me it had a way to resolve these issues...
Hope this helps.

It's likely I'll look at reducing the quest mods first, and probably just stick with one big one, like Twin Lamps maybe... so yes, good call there.

Hah! revenge... :p

Thanks that does help, I'll likely do a search and see if I can find the stuff on houses and textures.
