One extra thing for the people who read books in the game.
If you sell the book you can buy it multiple times.

I'm right near the end of the game and I'm very annoyed at myself for missing a few items, how exactly do you spawn them into the game, specifically weapons?? Thanks
I went to http://www.freewebs.com/dresdensinn/vpktool%20v3.5.rar
and got Turfster's TOOL. The tool only unpacks; I can't modify a file and put it back into the .vpk file. Am I missing something? Does anybody know what I am doing wrong?
Exactly my problem....I don't know how to put the folder back into the VPK file....

Could anyone help, I never modded before....but I was so annoyed that my Malkvian girl had no armor from the start so I took a look at her folders. Et Voila, seems like the folders were named differently ( the 1st one Malkavian_female_xxx, the others Malk_girl_xxx ).

1. Unpack all teh files
2. Replace the skin with the one you want
3. Start the game
4. You don't need to re-pack the files.
5. After unpacking all files, just delete the pack***.vpk files.
6. The game will access the uncompressed files. Besides, you will also notice that the game runs less chopppy because the files are already unpacked.

Glad you did - I hadn't seen this thread before. Now I've got more choices to make for my next time (4th) through the game. Not only do I have to choose which clan but now which skin.
How to use any Model’s Skin for your Player.
Big Thanks to HellWolve for this tip. Wink
In the Models folder pic you favorite Model Skin or skins, ill explain using one, which you allow you to make a different Model Skin for each armor if you wish.
Say you like Jeanette and your playing Malkavian and you want her for all your different Model Skins, everyone basically gets 4, cause each armor in the game is really a Model Skin.
So Vampire\Models\Charater\Npc\Unique\Santa_Monica\Jeanette you get
jeanette.dx7_2bone.vtx
jeanette.dx80.vtx
jeanette.mdl
jeanette.phy
Then go to Models\Character\PC\Female\Malkavian you get \armor0 - \armor3.
I made a backup up folder in each of the folders called "1" like so \armor0\1 - \armor3\1.
Then move all the original files of each armor folder into the backup folder "1", now you have saved all your originals incase you need them.
Next copy all 4 of Jeanette's files into each of the 4 armor folders \armor0 - \armor3.
Next rename all 4 of Jeanette's files in \armor0 to the name of the original files which are now located in \armor0\1 which you can easily reference.
Next do the same for \armor1 rename all Jeanette's files to the names of the originals located in \armor1\1.
Do the same for \armor2 and \armor3, your finished start the game and enjoy.
Since your using the same skin (in this example) you will always see Jeanette using all 4 armors.
You can select which armor you want by cycling the F3 key in the game, once you get other armors.

Forgive my insolence ;) , but does that ^ mean to um... change your playing character into the white daughters skin? so it would appear as if you were playing as her?

Yes, that was the early days, there is a better way to use change skins, now at least for the PC.
Now if you want your Blood change the skin on an NPC this is still the method, of course backup up your orginal, in case you ever want it.

Did you get you files unpacked ok?
If so this is the new method for Skinning your PC.

In your \Vampire\vdata\system folder look for the clandoc000.txt.
Inside look for your favorite clan, here is an example of my female Malk using Heather's Goth outfit on all 5 armor skins.
Obviously if you like a slpit personality Malk you can have a differnet skin (even NPCs) for each armor link.

"Clan" "Malkavian"

"F_Body0" "models/character/npc/unique/santa_monica/heather/heather_goth.mdl"
"F_Body1" "models/character/npc/unique/santa_monica/heather/heather_goth.mdl"
"F_Body2" "models/character/npc/unique/santa_monica/heather/heather_goth.mdl"
"F_Body3" "models/character/npc/unique/santa_monica/heather/heather_goth.mdl"
"F_Body4" "models/character/npc/unique/santa_monica/heather/heather_goth.mdl"
"F_Body5" "models/character/npc/unique/santa_monica/heather/heather_goth.mdl"

So you just copy the path to you current favorite skin.

If you make any naughty moives make sure you post in the forum, so we can see. :D

Did you get your files unpacked, ok?
Do you know how to make a backup of your orginal files you are going to change?
Do you have a text editor, like UltraEdit or are you just going to try to use Notpad?

Well you never take it out of the game.
Once you unpack your files you can see it, so you make a backup (copy the orginal, somwhere safe) of it, since it is a .txt (text) file you can open it with a text editor.
Do you understand up to this point?
Once you edit the file, i.e. put your changes in, you just close the file, when it says do you want to save the changes you click, yes.
Then you done. :)

Is it possible to grant, say a Tremere, with Dominate dialog options?
I don't like the Venture but would still like to explore that feat...

This has come up before, let me check, don't think it was possible but I am not sure.
As I think about it seems like it would just be a cut and paste of Ventrue lines or just adding Tremere to the parameters checked in dialogue files.

Ok I just checked and found that doesnt seem like you can get the Dom dialgue for the Tremere.
It seems the Devs hardcoded the specific dialoge for Malks and Ventrue only, normally you could just remove the checks in dialoge that say, "Only if Ventrue" but on these command lines they dont have parameters in dialogue.
I would have been cool, I like Tremere, too.

I would think in the PnP version Tremere get Dom dialogues too, anyone?

I does look like you can link the results, i.e. linking the dialgoue line from the result of a Dom command from a Ventrue line.

Uggh, keep forgetting about this thread, should have posted the Obfuscate update here.

Good news if you are a Stealth player and use Obfuscate.
I have always hated the Green Fog, the 20 frame rate hit and the Autofail everytime you touch trash, at level 5 you should be able to touch anything except a NPC.

The Green Fog problem was solved by a guy in Gamespy mod forum by typing in the console, cl_overlay_obfuscate_scale and setting it to 0, tried to do a search but you know Gamespy searches. :(

The 20 frame rate has persisted, until now (well afaik) to eliminate this problem type in the console, cl_obfuscate_daylight and set it to 0. :WOOT: :)

Now, if only we could solve the Autofail for touching trash at level five.

Anyway Enjoy! :)

Appoligies for the double post.

Btw, somethings on this list are outdated and intend to update this, so if you have problems let me know. :)

Ok I remember a post having problems with keys sticking, i.e. you keep moving after your finger is off a movement button and I can't find it, but have a fix.

Ok if you have ever experienced sticking keys you can solve it one of two ways.

First is in Accessablity options in the Control Panel and make sure "Use Sticky Keys" is unchecked, if it is unchecked then procide to second method.

Second on your desktop icon right click and select properties then Compatablity, set the Compatablity Mode to Win98.

Good Luck. :)

Ok another new development, well at least to me. ;)

Setting your heapsize works for better performance for some, but it seems it will not work with the Win98 compatablity mode, which fixes the Sticky Keys.
I guess setting heapsize does not work in a Win98 enviorment, unless someone knows of a way to make them work together?

Also I was told by OuterParadise I left out item_p_occult_presence and
item_p_occult_hacking in the Occult section, thanks. :)

I've never manually adjusted heap size for any program before - always let the software handle that by itself. But I recently read that setting it to half of our total RAM can sometimes help performance. I've currently got 2 gigs of RAM, and when I tried to set my heapsize to 1 gig, I got an error message:

"Unable to allocate 1000.0 MB"

The game would not load after that. If you can find any more information on setting the heapsize, I would be very interested.
